Pay Attention to the Latest Version of Propaganda Language HOA Management Companies Use to Manipulate People Into Surrendering Their Home Sovereignty--Like PropSpeak
In 1948, the renowned author George Orwell published his dystopian masterpiece “1984,” a story about a future, totalistic government that used intrusive spying, manipulation of media and the reduction of language, on top of violence, torture and war, to imprison their entire populace.
The political party was systematically reducing the number of words allowed to be spoken, and of those that remained, they changed their meanings, many of them, to become the opposite of what they meant before. In Orwell’s novel, this reduced, anti-literal language was called “Newspeak.” For example, the government department in charge of torturing prisoners until they were completely broken mentally and emotionally was called the “Ministry of Love,” the Department of War was called “Minipax,” the “Ministry of Peace,” and so on.
Orwell didn’t just create this propaganda method out of whole cloth, but was using what he had observed many dictatorial states, both fascist and communist, had used, were still using in his day and, tragically, continues to be used today, and not just by dictatorial states.
Here, in Peachtree Village, the HOA has been using propaganda from its inception in order to swindle the people who live here into either giving up their homes or to feel they are powerless to stop the HOA from taking them over…and here lately, now that they’ve hired another HOA management company that specializes in using deceptive language and other indoctrination techniques, it’s become quite evident they’re trying to employ words in remarkably contradictory ways. Here are just a few:
What They Call "Community" Ordinarily, the word “community” means something very positive, a feeling of fellowship with others who live nearby and share values of toleration and respect for one another. However, our HOA Board and their small band of followers are using Proper’s redefinition of the word, hoping to invoke its positive connotations, but only for the purpose of subduing most, if not everyone in our community, into a body of obedient slaves. Just this week, the HOA Board stated in their "news" letter how much they "love our community." Let's note what they could not say, "We love all the PEOPLE in our community." Why? Because for them, "community" is NOT the people who live in a certain area. What they "love" is the control they want to greatly increase over our community of human beings! As if to make this crystal clear, it was in that very same "news" letter, they published their intention to go after our neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet by taking on some extra work in their homes, but the HOA wants to prevent them from doing so!
What They Call "Help" One might think it impossible to twist the word “help” into anything other than offering assistance to someone, either to protect them from harm, heal them of injury or to do something in improve their personal happiness! But alas, Proper (and other HOA management companies) have found a way to use the word “help” as a substitute for, “Let us deceive you into thinking we only want control over YOUR home, so we can punish other homeowners into submission, allegedly, for your financial profit.” Of course, it’s only AFTER one gives up real ownership to an HOA, supposedly, just so OTHERS will feel the full brunt of their threats and financial attacks, only to later find out, that same power will be used against them as well!
What They Call "Convenience" A “convenience” is supposed to be some good or service that reduces effort or difficulty, but the way Proper and other HOA management companies now use the word, it’s simply a mask to conceal their hope to get us to pay more than the maximum amount of dues our CCRs permit! Proper’s CEO has said neither they, nor the HOA receives any of the “convenience” fees, such as the ridiculous $9.99 charge, per transaction, for paying dues with a debit card. However, it’s been 3 weeks since Proper received a certified letter notifying them an inspection of records had been requested to verify this claim…but they have yet to schedule a time and place what should be a simple and short inspection! Why? If it’s true Proper and/or the HOA is not getting a kickback every time someone pays their dues with a debit card (which is almost always free everywhere else), then why withhold inspection of these records???
What They Call An "Attack" And then there are words like “attack.” We’ve been hearing this word used more than ever, both by the HOA Board, as well as by Proper. In this case, the definition of the word is left in place, but it’s PROJECTED onto the victims of HOA bullying, discrimination and abuse. [For any who would care to spend some time doing a little research on how other HOAs and HOA management companies use the word “attack,” you’ll quickly see how they love to make it falsely appear that anyone who calls any HOA or their management companies into question or who shines the light of exposure on their bad deeds, they simply switch the blame for THEIR ATTACKS onto those homeowners who stand up to them.]
No doubt, it’s the objective of Proper and Peachtree Village HOA to employ this PROPSPEAK in order to overcome the exposure of their current and past illegitimate, immoral, unethical and, quite likely with respect to more than a few, criminally ILLEGAL behavior.
But we can foil this latest effort by simply educating ourselves and maintaining a heightened awareness of this altered-language tactic. Knowledge is power, and that is what the HOA is most afraid of, that the PEOPLE of Peachtree Village will become and will stay informed and, in so doing, will no longer be vulnerable to their attempts to control us and take away the most precious thing, which is crucial to living out every other human right—not just a mere, occupied house that may or may not be sold later on for more than what it was purchased for, but a HOME of our OWN!
One final note: It's no coincidence that Proper HOA Management is NOT approved by the Better Business Bureau! As of July 31, 2025, here's what they say: https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/richardson/profile/property-management/proper-hoa-management-0875-91347063
