HOAs Cause Psychological Homelessness, Because Just Like All Other Species, Humans Need To Decorate Their Own Homes In Their Own Unique Ways!
Just as various bird species feather their nests in a multitude of different ways (as illustrated above), demonstrating just how much it is only natural and instinctive for them to decorate their homes in unique ways, likewise, it is also true that we human beings have an innate desire and need for each of us to have a place to live that, truly, expresses our individuality! To put it another way, it is the RIGHT, not the privilege of a small number of people who have great power or wealth or both, to have more than just a "house," but a HOME, and by "home," that means the place where we each one get to "feather our nest" according to our individual desires, not someone else or some group of outsiders!
This is the fundamental evil that serves as the basis for HOAs--groups of people who are dead set against us having a home of our own! Think about this carefully. If someone or some other group of people, people who do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to pay for your home (think of how hard birds work and all time and energy it takes them to carefully construct their nests) presume to be the deciders of how your "nest" is feathered! In fact, not only to they pay nothing, but turn right around and insist you give them a portion of your hard-earned money, which they then use, in part, to persecute you and any one of your neighbors who doesn't conform to the sort of "nest" they like! And what makes all of this even worse, is how they carry on with this mission to cookie-cutter our homes and surrounding personal property without the slightest bit of guilt! They've no conscience when it comes to the way they deprive us of our most fundamental need and human right--to have a HOME, one place in all the world where we can freely express ourselves, where we can be safe, have privacy, a place of refuge and sanctuary, a place where we, as individuals, are in charge, and no one else!
Instead, HOAs just keep playing the Wall Street song which would reduce our homes down to mere financial investments. They do all they can to delude us into thinking that the only thing that matters is how much you can sell your home for at some date in the future, and that, in the meantime, we have to exist (not really LIVE) in what is, in reality, someone else's home! After all, if you are constantly forced to feather your nest like some other bird, then for all practical purposes, you don't really have a nest of your own. There's a name for this sort of trauma--PSYCHOLOGICAL HOMELESSNESS! Read what happens to people who are abused by HOAs as they rob people of their true home owner/controller-ship:
Psychological homelessness leaves countless individuals adrift in a sea of disconnection, yearning for a sense of belonging that remains elusive. This invisible struggle, unlike its physical counterpart, doesn’t manifest in cardboard signs or street corners. Instead, it lurks in the shadows of our psyche, gnawing at our sense of self and our ability to connect with others.
Imagine feeling like a perpetual outsider, even in familiar surroundings. Picture yourself surrounded by people, yet feeling utterly alone. This is the essence of psychological homelessness – a state of emotional displacement that can affect anyone, regardless of their physical dwelling or social status.
Psychological homelessness is a complex phenomenon that goes beyond the absence of a physical shelter. It’s a state of mind characterized by a profound sense of disconnection from oneself, others, and the world at large. Unlike physical homelessness, which is tangible and often visible, psychological homelessness is an internal struggle that can afflict even those with a roof over their heads and a seemingly stable life.
This concept intersects with various psychological theories, including attachment theory, existential psychology, and social identity theory. At its core, it speaks to our fundamental human need for belonging and connection. When these needs go unmet, we may find ourselves adrift in a world that feels alien and unwelcoming.
