DIFFERENT TACTIC, BUT THE SAME OPPRESSIVE HOA!
As we're learning more about the latest company the Peachtree Village HOA has hired (with OUR money), it's clear they've decided to try a new tactic--to change their propaganda to make it sound like they're "just here to help."
Of course, in order to pull of this effort to put a smiling mask over their unchanged, hideous agenda depends on how many of our residents they can cheaply and frequently reach...which is why they are trying so hard to obtain the personal information of the members of our community like our email addresses, phone numbers and to lure people into downloading Proper's app onto their smart phones. Just like so many 1000s of other for profit companies are constantly doing to sell us their products or services, now the HOA, together with Proper Management, hopes to invade our minds at every turn, in order to sell us on their nearly-religious doctrine that "the HOA is a force for good."
Sure, wouldn't it be nice if the HOA had actually changed and begun to DO good instead of bad! But after talking directly with the CEO of Proper and investigating what they plan to DO, the sad news is they plan on doing NOTHING NEW...other than how they TALK!
Let's go over a few of the HOA's goals which, no matter how much lipstick has been applied to them, are oinking all the same:
They plan to revert right back to spying on us! Just like Goodwin, Proper also has spy cars to invade our privacy, stalk us, take photos and write down everything they can to subjectively accuse us of having committed any number of 1000s of "violations," to be followed up with threats of fines! Oh, of course, they plan to call these threats "courtesy notices"! But a threat to take away our hard-earned money just to satisfy the need of a small group of control-obsessed, decoration police, by any other name, stinks all the same!
The HOA is still hoping to raise our dues. Thankfully, our founding documents (the ones they often refer to as "The Rules") are not 100% terrible, in that, they limit the amount of dues money ("regular assessments") to no more than $40.00 a month ($480.00 a year)...that is, unless the HOA can manipulate enough people (67% or more) to vote in favor of raising the maximum allowed. This is another reason why they want to have more influence over us--so they can con our resident and non-resident homeowners into taking even more of our money than they already do!
Speaking of money, just what is it they are doing differently with their spending? Well, they are spending a LOT of our money on lawyers! Just in the past few months, they spent $1,000.s to help the former Board members (and 3 of the current ones) prevent their illegitimate and illegal deeds from coming to light and, quite possibly, before Law Enforcement! Just as before, when Goodwin was obstructing our homeowners from directly inspecting HOA documents and records (which is a specific RIGHT of every homeowner, according to The Rules, as well as according to the Texas State Property Code laws), Proper has not yet allowed the inspection of any Peachtree Village HOA records! In fact, they are using the same attorney who has resorted to all sorts of legal-loophole, dodging tactics to prevent the truth from coming to light, such as, the fact we didn't have a legitimately-elected Board of Directors for YEARS, meaning, every penny they spent was a misappropriation of our HOA funds!
And in addition to funneling our money into the pockets of lawyers, is there any real change to the way the HOA is otherwise planning to spend our money? Nope! They are still planning to keep wasting tens of thousands of dollars to keep alive the non-native crabgrass on our greenbelt, only to mow it down to the nubs which, even with the highly unusually high rainfall we've had this July, will certainly come to a screeching halt and, no matter how many $1,000.s the HOA spends on our broken, irrigation system, no amount of expensive City drinking water will be enough to keep the crabgrass from turning brown and dying! Why?
As usual, the answer comes from following the money! The same landscaping company the former "Board" had been using, it STILL in the employ of the new Board, taking TENs of thousands of our hard-earned dollars that could otherwise be used on things that really matter, like fixing the potholes!
Yes, the HOA is STILL not using our money to pay for real needs like the ever-deepening and spreading number of potholes on our private (blue sign) streets! Even though they've been fully informed, in writing, with a thorough analysis of our founding documents which state, in no less than 6 places, it is the full responsibility of the HOA to maintain, preserve and repair all of the Common Drives, they have ignored their responsibility! For all the money they have misappropriated to pay for attorney fees, to line the pockets of management companies and to foolishly fund a greedy, landscaping company, they could have easily paid to fix most, if not all, the potholes making our streets look like the surface of the moon!
There are many more real problems the HOA is neglecting to do anything about--the black mold growing all over the sound barrier wall on Spring Creek Parkway, getting the litter, tree limbs and debris picked up off of our greenbelt on a regular basis, changing the rest of the misleading/threatening signs at our auxiliary parking and bulk trash pick up locations and so on...but those real issues are of no concern to the HOA! Instead, they are STILL singularly focused on TAKING AWAY OUR HOME SOVEREIGNTY!
Here, though, is the good news! We're not falling for their deceptive ways. Our community sent the HOA Board and Proper a very strong message last Saturday, when they were hoping oh-so-badly to lure in dozens of our residents, thinking they could just sweet talk them into giving up their private, contact information and invite them into their private lives by putting their app on their smart phones...but we stayed away by the droves! No doubt, they will try to lie and spin the truth to make their failure seem not so bad.
But our Neighborhood Union will continue to press the HOA to do what's right, to stop with all the deceptive rhetoric and propaganda, to stop invading our privacy and lording it over us with their decoration policing and, if they're to be of any good use at all, to start taking care of the REAL PROBLEMS on our Common Areas, which are worsening by the day.
Funding
The Peachtree Village Neighborhood Union is freely supported by the generous contributions from our community's residents and non-resident homeowners. No contributions are tax-deductible, so they are all the more appreciated. To be clear, the Union receives NO money at all from the HOA, nor any portion of any HOA dues payments.
